(So essentially I have a private IP and am directly connected to my company, all traffic moving over my company first then coming back to my private IP).

ive had very little experience with VPN's and i cant say what could be your solution but i have used hamachi which installs a fake network adapter on your system and allows you to control network traffic, i had the opposite to this problem when i was using it, when i am using this adapter, it automatically sets it as a public connection, and disables uPNP on my network, i suspect that this is the opposite with you, so try and set the network adapter as public and that should restrict traffic going through that network adapter.
