I am sorry. I should have said that I had SP1 loaded on my machine before this all started. I had downloaded it back in April when it first came through the Automatic Updates. The reason I had to download it again was because I had Factory Image reinstalled and that set my Windows back to before that.
When I reinstalled the first time, the box worked fine till I downloaded updates. I had it set to automatic so I had no idea which one it was. The second was the same issue at the same place after downloading updates.
All I remember was that it was a Vista Update and a bunch of Office Updates.
I am often guilty of not reading the screen before I hit 'next'
Since then I have set the updates to look but not download or install and asked about them before installing. I have hidden several that I have been told are problematic (KB955839) or not totally necessary til I have a problem. I do look them up and read the articles, but to tell the truth most of it goes over my head..
Any advice would be most appreciated.
