Actually if you want to get techie I suggest your read this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX - it details that The DirectPlay
DPLAY.DLL was also removed and was replaced with dplayx.dll - apparently
it can be replicated by installing Dplay.DLL and renaming it.

Therefore it was MS fault - NOT DX10.

I actually like DX10 and it nice to see individual bristle on the chin
of my characters in MassEffect.
