RE: cant access shared folders I did have a similar problem (XP Home -> Vista RC1) and the only things that
seemed to actually help beyond what you have done were to:
1. make sure I had a Guest account which was enabled on the Vista machine
2. Turn "Password Protected Sharing" OFF in the Network and Sharing Center
