Re: downloaded files disappear...actually never appear
I tried the registry fix from Bill Sanderson and that didn't work. I have a PC from a customer that is doing this same problem.
It’s Running AVG 8.0 in Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. I can't get files to download anywhere. I tried everything I could find on the net and NADA. If I uninstalled AVG the downloads would work. Reinstall AVG and BAM - problem returns.
Until I did this -
I removed the hard drive and connected it to a different machine (Windows XP based) and performed a file system check and repair on the Vista OS drive. Reinstalled the drive and PRESTO, back in business. Files are downloading and staying put now with AVG installed. Others without a 2nd PC or knowledge on how to remove the drive can try this within Windows Vista by right clicking the C: drive and going to properties, then tools tab, Error-Checking/Check now button.
