It's probably your video card. The random nature and the way you fix it
points to hardware. Eventually, the "fix" won't work any more. If you want
to rule out the monitor, you can attach the computer to a different one.
Obviously, if the problems don't recur, you know it's time to start looking
for a new monitor. If the problems are present with a different monitor,
uninstall your video card and swap it out for a known-working one as your
next troubleshooting step.

If the computer is under warranty, exercise that warranty. If you can't do
the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup
of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your
local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). If possible, have all your
data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.
