Hi Lu,

Yes you can downgrade to 8.1.

Firstly you'll need to uninstall the version you have installed already though. You can do
this by going to Programs and Features in the Control Panel. For Live Messenger 2008 it will
be listed as Windows Live Messenger and for 2009, you'll have to choose the Windows Live
Essentials option and then uninstall Messenger from within that installer that will appear.

After that you can simply install 8.1 from here:
