| Re: how to get aero I've heard that you have to have a rating of 3 or more for the glass to be enabled. all my ratings except the graphics are above 3. My graphics (Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset family) have a rating of 2. Is there anything i could do to upgrade those graphics to perhaps get them to a rating of 3. Thanks "Zack Whittaker" wrote: > Sorry... let me try that again... > > Minimum requirements for Windows Aero: > http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.p...inimumreqglass > > Nvidia drivers: > http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.p.../nvidiadrivers > > ATI drivers: > http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.p...ics/atidrivers > > Enable Windows Aero in 5381 and above: > http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.p...cs/glassin5381 > > -- > Zack Whittaker > » ZackNET Enterprises: www.zacknet.co.uk > » MSBlog on ResDev: www.msblog.org > » Vista Knowledge Base: www.vistabase.co.uk > » This mailing is provided "as is" with no warranties, and confers no > rights. | Re: how to get aero Intel's 915G chipset (I believe this was codename Grantsdale) will not have a WDDM driver (this is the new video driver architecture in Windows Vista). A WDDM driver is require for you to be able to run Aero. Your only option would be to add a discrete graphics card. Since you were already using integrated graphics, I would suggest buying a card around $90.00, with 128 Megs of video memory. I believe your motherboard is PCI Express (PCI-E) so, something like an ATI X600 or a nVidia GeForce Fx 5500 (these are just examples - I use a lot of different cards at work and at home, but can not recommend any in specific because of my working relationship with all the graphics companies). Check the manufacturers web sites to make sure that they will develop WDDM drivers for the model you pick: http://www.ati.com/technology/window.../Products.html http://www.nvidia.com/page/technology_vista_home.html -Pablo You best option is to get a "JustinL" <JustinL@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:28B7AB6C-E9E0-4E33-9298-401D39254B0D@microsoft.com... > I've heard that you have to have a rating of 3 or more for the glass to be > enabled. all my ratings except the graphics are above 3.
