Vista - winsat aurora

What's the meaning of displaying animated graphic with Windows Logo after
entering the above command in Vista Beta 1 Build 5270. Hopefully I'll get the
meaning from Microsoft.

It's the Windows System Assessment Tool - and I believe that the moving
Vista graphics are to test how your screen reacts and to pick out resolution
problems.

As "aurora", the definition is "an atmospheric phenomenon consisting of
bands of light caused by charged solar particles following the earth's
magnetic lines of force" - and I think the WinSAT shows this quite well.

I know you want an answer from Microsoft, but to be honest, only rarely do
they come in here because their so busy working on Vista. However, those who
do come in, I thank very much.

Yes, Zack is correct.

WinSAT is a system assessment tool, that is being used by various windows
components to fine tune their enabled feature set.

Thanks for reply.
BTW I didn't notice any 'fine tune' was directly related with the command
"winsat aurora ".

I mistakenly think of the following commands was just for measurement.
winsat dwm :Measure your - LDDM supported Display Card
winsat disk :Measure your - Storage performance
winsat mem :Measure your - Memory Bandwith
winsat d3d :Measure your Direct3D Gaming Performance

winsat moobe :Check the OS regarding the followings.
Processor Performance (mine: 89.95 MB/s)
System Memory Bandwith (mine: 74144.34 MB/s)
Gaming Performance (mine: 1874.52 F/s)
Disk Performance (mine: 246.53 MB/s)
Video Encode Time (mine: 16.31294 secs)
Video Decode Time (mine: 0.01596 secs)

Hi Betty,

I am not sure whether in the December CTP build any internal applications
are actually utilizing WinSAT. That will change in the February CTP though.
For example, DWM will use WinSAT to determine the default UI experience (e.g.
whether to display glass window frames or opaque window frames, etc.) Of
course users will be able to override this decision in the Control Panel.
