I dowload a lot of games from different sites and play for the free demo time
of 60 minutes. When I close the game at the end of my freeplay [or when the
game closes itself], my entire desktop turns black and I can only get the
desktop back by logging off. I never had this problem with XP.

I have a similar problem when using Terminal Server client to access my Vista desktop. When going back into (or back into) a session the whole screen goes black (but icons still visible in my case). I usually go into "Personalise\Desktop Background" and everything comes back without making any changes.
