The only downloads I can find for the Windows SDK (required to try
Cider) are a massive ISO. Is this the only format available? The SDK
isn't really this big is it?

The WinFX SDK has been merged into the Windows SDK.
We realize that a 1gig download isn't ideal.

I believe the SDK team is working to make the ISO requirement go away.
