2d control in 3d ViewPort

Hi!

Does anyone know a way to use 2d controls (lists, buttons) in a 3d
environment (inside a ViewPort) ? I am currently experimenting with
VisualBrush but it puts only the aspect of the control on a 3d object.
I would like to have everything( events, mouse interaction, etc).

Tanx alot!

Re: 2d control in 3d ViewPort

Unfortunately, we don't have an interactive VisualBrush on 3D in V1. You
aren't the first person to expect this to work

If you're really interested, you may be able to pull it off yourself.
RayMeshGeometry3DHitTestResult's VertexIndex and VertexWeight information
will let you figure out the texture coordinate of where you clicked then,
with some considerable work, you could find what control is there and
interact with it.

Re: 2d control in 3d ViewPort

Will this be implemented in the final version of WPF then?

Re: 2d control in 3d ViewPort

Interactive 2d inside a 3d scene is not part of this version of WPF (.NET
Framework 3.0).

It's common request and a killer feature, but unfortunately it's not part of
this release.

Re: 2d control in 3d ViewPort

MS will not have the feature in V1, but other 3rd parties are working on
this. Rezn8 showed off a prototype version a few months ago. You will want to
keep an eye out on the control vendors, and perhaps contact them to see if
you can buy something from them for your app. This solution is more of a stop
gap measure until the full fledged feature comes out in WPF V2...but there is
a high demand for this feature, and I expect the demand to get filled in some
way.
