orcas w/ july ctp = black designer?

I used the advice on how to install orcas over july ctp (with the
installer flags etc)

But just wanted to know if completely blacked out designer was to be
expected, or if I'm just "lucky"

It is to be expected. Forcing the install will get you WPF application
creation and intellisense, but the visual designer ("cider") will not work.
