| Guest | scaling in Vista (WPF apps only?) With WinXP and a high-res monitor I have a hard time reading the screen. I guess I'm getting old. I'm already using large fonts. Some things (like web pages) can be scaled, but most things can't. Will this problem go away in Vista? I've heard about the much improved scaling functionality in Vista, but I don't know whether this is only for apps written with WPF. I'm guessing that the apps that I use most, such as Visual Studio, will never be WPF apps. |

Microsoft Expression Interactive Designer has an almost fully scalable UI. The only parts that don't appear to be scaled by the 'Workplace Zoom' are the title bar and menu of the main window. All the palettes and icons are scaled nicely. |

WPF has a nice feature: Dimensions are not expressed in pixels, but in 1/96 inches. It's a good idea because this way, an object will always have the same dimensions, whatever the size/resolution of the screen is. That said, it's not a Vista specific feature, but a WPF one. So only WPF applications running on Vista or XP will present this behaviour without the programmer having to do something.
