Opentype font support in WPF

Please go through the thread copied below form microsoft.public.expression.interactivedesigne discussion list.

What I want to know is whether WPF supports the rendering of complex scripts using opentype fonts. This support is needed for Indic scripts employing Unicode. Rendering of opentype fonts is handled by Uniscribe (USP10.DLL). In other words, what I want to know is, whether WPF uses Uniscribe OR has it got its own rendering mechanism for opentype fonts?

Thanks and regards,
Pavanaja

Expression Interactive Designer uses Windows Presentation Foundation to
display all text (and everything else, for that matter). I know that the WPF
team has worked hard on world-wide text display, but I don't know the extent
of its Uniscribe use. A great place to ask your question would be on the
microsoft.public.windows.developer.winfx.avalon newsgroup.

Re: Opentype font support in WPF

WPF renders OpenType fonts natively (no dependency on Uniscribe) but will
not have Indic support due to time constrains.
