| | ANN: Actipro Ribbon Control Suite for WPF Released We've seen several posts related to WPF developers trying to duplicate the Office 2007 user interface so we wanted to post this news release here. Actipro Ribbon was released yesterday and is now for sale. You can find out more information, download an evaluation or try a live XBAP demo here: http://www.actiprosoftware.com/Produ...et/WPF/Ribbon/ Actipro Ribbon is the first control suite available to the public for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), which provides an Office 2007-like user interface that conforms to the Microsoft requirements. Ribbon has been designed from the ground up to follow WPF best practices, be extremely configurable, use a command-driven model, and allow for reproduction of nearly all the user interface features found in Office. Major features of Ribbon include: * Full implementation of the core Microsoft ribbon user interface requirements. * Ribbon bar that has tabs containing groups capable of hosting child controls. * Built-in control types include buttons, checkable buttons, menu buttons, split buttons, checkable split buttons, checkboxes, radio buttons, textboxes, comboboxes, font family comboboxes, font size comboboxes, separators, and labeled separators. * Ability to create any type of custom control. * Add controls anywhere including the ribbon, menus, or the application menu. * Multiple ways to lay out controls on the ribbon via the use of various panels. * Automated ribbon control resizing that can be fully customized so that less important controls scale down or collapse sooner. * Ribbon can collapse when it becomes smaller than a certain width or height. * Application menu, with menu items and footer buttons. * Ability to place any control on the right side of the application menu, such as a recent documents list. * Quick access toolbar that can be displayed above or below the ribbon. * Takes full advantage of the WPF command model. * Commands can provide various UI elements such as labels and images so that controls with the same command can automatically get the same user interface. * Key tips and screen tips. * Visual styles that match Office 2007. * Built-in blue, black and silver color schemes, with the ability to define a custom color scheme. * Fade and other color animations throughout the user interface. * RibbonWindow class that can be used to provide a Office-like window appearance, even without the use of a ribbon control. * Vista glass support. * Easily create the entire ribbon user interface in XAML markup. * Right-to-left support is fully integrated for languages such as Hebrew or Arabic. * XBAP compatibility * Includes detailed documentation and a sample project that demos nearly every feature * Much more If you have any questions or comments, you can shoot us an e-mail (address available on our site) or post in our product's forums. Thanks, Bill |

| | Re: Actipro Ribbon Control Suite for WPF Released I you just release it yesterday, and are stating its the first WPF ribbon control, that's a lie. DevComponents has had it out for much longer. http://www.devcomponents.com/wpfribbon/ Thanks, Shawn |

| | Re: Actipro Ribbon Control Suite for WPF Released Hi Shawn, It's not a lie, DevComponent's product is still in private beta even today. We had ours in private beta for several selected testers even before DevComponents announced their beta. Our claim is that we are the first to RTM a completed non-beta v1.0 Ribbon control to the public, and that is 100% fact. Hope that explains it. | | Re: Actipro Ribbon Control Suite for WPF Released Bill, Congrats on the release, but Wpf-Ribbon is actually not in private beta as you would like to misinterpret it... It can be downloaded and is downloaded by anyone by just signing up for our forums. Same way your control needs sign up to actually be downloaded... Final release is coming really, really soon and it will be by far the best WPF Ribbon Control available, same as our DotNetBar is for Windows Forms. | | Re: Actipro Ribbon Control Suite for WPF Released Hi Dennis, Congratulations on your upcoming final release. Sorry if "private beta" is incorrect but download did require your validation first and it was listed as such here (http://channel9.msdn.com/wiki/defaul...dPartyControls) as well as other places so be sure to update them. Regardless of dates, I think we both agree that competition will only benefit the consumers so the WPF developers here are the real winners here. A smart developer will download both products, evaluate them and determine themselves which is the best fit for their company based on price, feature set, and implementation style. I wish your company well. I think it's wonderful that both of us are really pioneering the WPF arena with our great products. Sincerely, Bill Henning Actipro Software WPF Ribbon and Wizard Controls - http://www.actiprosoftware.com/Products/#WPF <db@devcomponents.com> wrote in message news:1175595529.686444.305380@y66g2000hsf.googlegroups.com... > Bill, > > Congrats on the release, but Wpf-Ribbon is actually not in private > beta as you would like to misinterpret it... I actually like the Office 2k3 look and feel better, especially since you can't do a competing office program with ribbon and I'd like to give it a shot for reasons that are not competitive. In any case, I like your whole WinForms control suite but was wondering if some of that (or all) will find its way into WPF? I'd hate to be restricted only to ribbons if I can't use that for my project. Thanks, Shawn |
