is this the right newsgroup?

I noticed this group still has the old avalon name. Is there another
group I should post my WPF questions into?

Thanks,
Scott

Not really. This newsgroup is not monitored by Microsoft, contrarily to
other "official" microsoft newsgroups. The right place to post WPF
related pictures is in the MSDN WPF forum here:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...D=119&SiteID=1

I expect this NG to be phased out sooner or later by Microsoft.

Laurent

There is, as a matter of fact, no other newsgroup, and whether Microsoft
ignores the group does not strike me as relevant to the question, unless
Scott meant to ask a different one.

It's relevant if Scott wants an answer to his question. The traffic is
very slow here. Granted, the MSDN site is not a newsgroup in the pure
meaning of the word. Nonetheless, asking a question here is a bit like
peeing in the proverbial violin.

(not sure if that saying exists in English... is that a French only
thing?

I think that directing people to the MSDN site is the right thing to do.
We've been told by Microsoft a few times that they're going to close
non-monitored newsgroups soon. I am pretty sure that this one is on the
list.

Greetings,
Laurent

Doing WHAT to the violin? Is that really a literal translation of a French
cliché? What is it supposed to mean? (All of my neighbors here at my work
place's cube farm are looking at me strangely because I burst out laughing
when I read that...)

:-) I imagine. In french, the expression "c'est comme pisser dans un
violon" (literally "it's like to piss into a violin") is used to talk
about a useless action. Apparently (Google says), the original
expression was "to blow in a violin", and changed later make it funnier.
