| | WPF apps looking like native on Windows XP ...? I have a look in two apps from Microsoft in a couple of days: Windows MEdia PLayer 11 Windows Defender Beta 2 They are lookin like they are developed with WPF/XAML but they do not require any WinFX installed runtimes. Do you know something about that...? Please share some info.... |

| | Re: WPF apps looking like native on Windows XP ...? They likely have their own rendering engine for these projects - seperate to WPF. You could do this in Windows Forms. Just override OnPaint. - Doug > I have a look in two apps from Microsoft in a couple of days: > > Windows MEdia PLayer 11 > Windows Defender Beta 2 > They are lookin like they are developed with WPF/XAML but they do not > require any WinFX installed runtimes. > > Do you know something about that...? > > Please share some info.... > |

| | Re: WPF apps looking like native on Windows XP ...? I do not believe that they spend so much money to make separate rendering engines for such a small group of applications. I think it is rather a converter or a subset of WPF like WPF/E than a separate engine. Thanks for proposition with OnPaint I have been using it so far but now when WPF comes it's too much work with OnPaint to have same effects as in WPF. Jakub |

| | Re: WPF apps looking like native on Windows XP ...? There is nothing about these apps to indicate that they've anything to do with WPF. WMP 9 & 10 had a custom LnFs too remember and they predate WPF. If Defender was WPF it wouldn't be able to use the button style of custom themes which I can confirm it does. <jakub.matias@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1148292037.845559.260230@i39g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... >I do not believe that they spend so much money to make separate > rendering engines for such a small group of applications.
