Email times out

Using either Window Mail or Live Mail on newly reloaded Vista Home, I get:
Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
error after a timeout.

Verizon remoted in and said all settings are correct on the mail and can find nothing wrong with account on their end. Everything else seems right on PC. Nothing in the event log. Antivirus not currently installed. Windows firewall off.

I went through the Windows Mail whole registry deletion, directory deletion process and no change.

Any ideas?

Did not do anything with SP 1, perequisites or otherwise. The PC has been returned to Cosco as the owner had her fill of Vista (many other problems) so I can't check. Thanks for the idea and sorry I can't test it.

No worries, but I'm 99% sure that it was just a problem with the updates, would have been an easy fix, but only via comand prompt
