Vista - cannot open attachments

Hi,

I don't know if this is a problem of firefox, vista or what, but I cannot open any email attachments no matter the format (word, jpg, etc.). does anyone have any suggestions please?

Hi deborahrea, What email program are you using? Is this a new problem or have you previously been able to open attachments?

am using Yahoo web based email. Just to let you know that I didn't have any problem when I used internet explorer but that started giving me problems!

Are you saying that the problem first started when you installed Yahoo? And now it occurs in Outlook as well? Try uninstalling Yahoo, or do a system restore to before you installed Yahoo

problem never occured with yahoo email - I don't use outlook as I don't know how to configure. It started when I started using firefox. so I don't know if there is an incompatiabilty between firefox/vista, vista/yahoo. I can, however, attach things myself - just cannot open them when sent to me.

I use Firefox and have a Yahoo Webmail account I use when travelling. I have no problems with compatability. The problem could be in your internet options in Firefox your Firewall or your internet provider is not allowing web mail attachments through. Check your options on Yahoo to see that it is allowing attachments to be downloaded.
Try using Outlook, it is very easy to configure and if you still have a problem it gives us a better idea of what it can be.

I looked at Yahoo options but where would I see anything on attachments and not being downloaded?

On the right Hand Side of your Yahoo page, Options, Mail, Spam Protection. Check to see Options for opening attachments are not blocking you.
