Vista connected to Internet but can not browse web.

Hello,

I decided to take the plunge and purchased myself Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 to take advantage of my 64bit hardware, mainly for all the latest games, I was always quite happy with XP. I was previously using Winxp 32bit SP3 and never had any problems at all, I do not recall ever have a BSoD.

After the installation I found that I could not browse any websites using IE. I thought it was security or firewall problem so disabled them all. I have not even installed any 3 party software yet, so no virus scanners to disable. In the network settings it shows Computer -> Home Network -> Internet connection.

I can connect to my works VPN and web mail services just fine using IE/Fire fox (I had to download FF onto a flash card on another computer). I can ping websites IP's but just can not connect to them via HTTP. The exact same thing happens to my friends laptop running Vista when he comes over and uses my internet. We can both connect to WoW and other game servers just fine, but he could not browse the internet even though he was connected.

I am using a D-Link DI-804 Residential Gateway Router with my cable modem plugged into the WAN socket and I have a Wireless D-Link Access Point plugged into the uplink and this has worked fine for many years. All of my devices can connect and browse the internet just fine, either via Wireless or LAN including 3 PC's running either OSX, WinXP and Win 2000. I have a PSP, Iphone and IPOD Touch all connect and browse the internet fine with absolutely no problems.
If I plug my cable modem directly into the PC running Vista everything works fine!

I have tried searching forums and other various websites for the same problem and it seems that most of the fixes offered worked for those people, but they do not work for me.
I tried flushing the socket using the Winsock reset commands but this does not do the trick. I have spoken to someone at work today and they said I may need to add the PC's network card Mac address to my router to allow it access, but I do not see the sense in this as I have not needed to do this to any other of my devices.

I just can not find an answer and this post is my last hope!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
