Please Help Me Get Internet Explorer Working

I have been using IE7 for a year and a half. No problems. Now it takes twenty seconds to load, and each time I visit a site it's slow, and it often freezes on me. I installed Canon software for 8600 scanner, and that started my IE7 problem. I have since removed the program but IE7 still is slow.

What can I do to correct this? Can I uninstall IE7 and reinstall? What do look for that the software installation might have left on my computer?

Might add that Foxfire works fine.

Have done both...same thing. I have also scanned with Spybot, Norton and both tell me everything is fine. It's not! It's starting to drive me crazy.

Barnum,

If it has not been to long ago, you might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before you installed Cannon software to see if that may help.

    I like Spore,Rabbits and I'm a Computer Freak.
Have tried system restore, and it would not complete successfully. Disabled it, restored it and of course the older restore dates are gone.

I have Mozilla on my hard drive as well, and it works. I am just used to IE, and it bothers me to have something awry. I take pride in keeping my PC up to snuff. I will find a solutions somewhere if it kills me...

Any other suggestions? Is there some way to find that left over item that's affecting IE's performance? Do registry cleaners work?

Barnum,

It seems that it may be beyond a simple repair, and that a reinstall may be needed to fix it. :(

Interesting that when I click on IE7 it takes forever to open, but when I click on it use the "run as administrator" it opens quickly. What could be the problem?
