Internet Explorer 8 slow to open

Johannes

Closed as requested
I down loaded the Internet Explorer 8, is it normal to take 13 seconds to open?
I did not time the I.E. 7, but it was a lot faster to open. Furthermore, I did not notice any improvements, if there are any, please let me know. Thanks

Try Maxthon. Anything new in IE has prolly been in Maxthon for years. It's IE based and has a user community with addon developers like Firefox has.

Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help answer questions that users might have about their copies of Internet Explorer 8.
If you’re still interested in learning more about the new features in Internet Explorer 8, I’d recommend checking out the IE8 Demo site. It gives you a hands-on (or browser-on, really) look at some of the new security and usability features of the new edition of IE. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but let me know if you have any questions about the site, or any more about Internet Explorer 8!
Thanks,
Cody

Thanks for the reply Cody. My main question was if it was normal for IE 8 to take that much longer to open than IE 7.

The amount of time it takes your browser to open can be affected by quite a few things, and is thus usually differs from system to system. First off, what's your current homepage set to? Homepages that are highly packed with lots of content can take some time to get fully opened and loaded. Secondly, do you currently have any add-ons installed? Some resource-heavy add-ons can have an impact on your browser startup time.
Thanks,
Cody

The only thing I changed was the download of IE 8,The home page was set to google. (see attachment) That is why I was wondering if it was normal to take that much longer to open. This happened right after the download.
Today I downloaded IE8 to our other pc with windows XP home service pack 3 and it seem to open in the regular time frame.

Like I said, each system loads browsers as different speeds, depending on a ton of different factors. Personally, the IE8 on my system doesn't take nearly that long to load. I'm currently running IE8 RC1 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit, on a PC with 4GB of RAM. Maybe you could try opening IE8 with all add-ons disabled and see if this gives you a more satisfactory start-up time. I'll also keep digging around to see if I can find some more technical cuases to your problem. Let me know how things go!
Thanks,
Cody

I did disable (see attachment)all the add ons, and this time it took 14-15 seconds to load. It did not take that long with the IE 7 with all the add-ons enabled. On our other pc with windows XP home it takes the normal time to open. My system is vista premium 3 gig 32 bit. Should I try to
re-download the IE 8?

I did, but it made no difference in the time to open. I am still puzzled as to why the download of I.E. 8 on our other pc with Windows XP home did not have the same problem. I have also the Firefox browser and that one opens in a normal time frame.

Internet Explorer Outreach Team, the problem with IE.8 and the slow open.
After he gave you the most obvious answers,ie plugins defualt webpage etc etc. the answer he sould of gave was, I dont know, maybe because I'm in a job i should not be in. so Cody, he has tried all what you ask, lets assume his pc is good spec. why does it open slow.

Not to challenge your integrity, but...What exactly is the "Internet Explorer Outreach Team"??? And who are they sponsored by???

A Google of the name only reveals one other place this name appears, which also questions the legitimacy of the name, and coincidentally, you post the answer. - What is the 'Internet Explorer Outreach Team'? - CNET Buzz Out Loud Lounge Forums

I also checked out the link to the website you posted, and as sleek as it looks, there's nothing there that says this is in anyway affiliated with Microsoft.

Could you please clearify? Your title can be misleading as some might think you represent Microsoft in some offical capacity.

Thanks

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The IE8 development team has been pretty swamped as of late, rolling out the final version of IE8, which actually was released today. It's definitely possible that this final version could behave differently on your machine, so you might want to give it a shot. Here's a link to the download page: Internet Explorer 8: Home page
Sygnus21, the CNET post you linked to is a pretty good description of what the Internet Explorer Outreach Team is all about. We work with Microsoft to help folks find the resources they need to fix their problems. While we don't provide a lot of tech support, the IE 8 demos page I provided is good example of an official Microsoft resource that we've used many times to help users get a feel for some of the newer features in Internet Explorer 8. I hope this helped answer your questions and address your concerns!
Thanks,
Cody

The CNET post asks the same questions I asked, and has gotten the same vague answer there as here. Also while your IE8 Demo page "may" be official MS demos, you still have not answered the question of sponsorship, as again I note, there is no official Microsoft "endorsements", as in we (Microsoft) sponsor this page, on that website. Nor does your answers answer the question of your affiliation with Microsoft in an "Official" way.

But I’ll leave it alone as I've gotten my answer through the vagueness of yours.

I will however thank your for helping out with problems posted here.
