MSN Premium incompatible with Vista x64

Hi! I built a new system a couple of months ago centered around Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I use MSN Premium as my browser. (Hey guys, don't pick on me! I've used MSN ever since I got Verizon DSL. I'm used to it and happy enough that I haven't taken the time to research other browsers.)

Well, it looks like the time has possibly come. I've been having several problems including recurring messages telling me MSN has to close down. This morning I called Verizon MSN department and was told that they just got a message that MSN Premium is not compatible with Vista x64 and that I should remove it. He said MS might try to make a patch but don't count on it soon.

At the moment, I don't plan on immediately removing it. (I can live with the occasional problems (as long as they don't somehow screw up my OS).

Any comments on good browsers that work with Vista x64?

Thanks!

P.S. The tech also told me not to use IE8 while it is still beta as there are some x64 issues still to be resolved.

IE 8 has been finalized. You can download and use it.

In my opinion, would quit using MSN Premium and use IE 8, because once you have a problematic area it tends to get worse and generally finds it way to other areas as well. Give IE 8 a shot.

Thanks for the reply. I currently hav IE7 and I don't like it's toolbars at all. I'll give IE8 a try. Hope it's better than IE7. I was just looking at Firefox reviews and videos. This looks real good.

P.S.Regarding the tech who told me not to use IE8 beta with Vista x64 it looks like he's not keeping current.

I used IE 8 RC 1 untill the final version came out. Downloaded IE 8 and used it for a day. It was slower than 7 was in load up time. It took 8 to 10 seconds to load my home page. So I uninstalled it and went back to 7, since then I have given opera and firefox a go. I really like the firefox with the vista skin. Looks a lot like 7 and way faster than 7 is for me any way. Good luck.
