Cookies or Virus prg not allowing site login

I have a desktop and a laptop running vista32hp here on the desk.
They both are using COMCAST mcafee. the laptop is new.
The laptop goes to all my websites and logs in automatically. I LIKE DAT!

The desktop no longer does that. Of late it goes to all my websites puts in the name and password and even the "remember me" is checked, but it does not do the actual log in. I HATE DAT!

Same no matter IE or FF.
Cookies are turned on, I just spend an hour going through every Mcafee setting to compare... And I have fiddled with VISTA everywhere I can think of but just cant figure it out...

thanx

RJ

Re: Cookies or Virus prg not allowing site login

I'm having the same problem. But only in FF.. IE still works perfectly fine, but in FF3 it will not log in for me anymore. it's irritating.

when I for example come here to vista64. the name and password area are blank. when I start typing my username. it remembers it and fills it in, and then when I hit tab, it remembers the password and I just hit enter and it logs in..... but BEFORE I didn't have to do any of that. it would just be logged in for me.

It's been doing this for about 2 weeks give or take. but only in FF.. IE works fine with saving.

Any fix yet man?

Re: Cookies or Virus prg not allowing site login

I just realized my Laptop is Vista64 (which does work) and the desktop is Vista32 which doesnt.
And the NEW FF and the NEW IE dont matter.
The problem began recently... About the same time I upgraded both FF and IE8

Do a look at auto complete. Tools>internet options>content>autocomplete settings. Check all the boxes (tick all the boxes) and try.

In ie7 & ie8

Re: Cookies or Virus prg not allowing site login

Nope that didnt help...
Because it does it in both IE and FF I dont think its browser related, its either vista security or McAfee... I went through McAfee and just cant find any difference tween the computer that logs in adn the one thad does not...
I run a blog and I go there 25 times a day and have to log in each time and its getting irritating!

Re: Cookies or Virus prg not allowing site login

Hi rackjite,

Have you tried Temporarily disabling McAfee? If this is possible it would at least tie the error down to McAfee or Vista, and you can then troubleshoot further
