I hope I am posting in the right place. Is there a tool that really cleans up traces of internet history beyond what I, a basic user, already know how to do such as deleting browsing history, temporary internet files, etc.?

I dont know exactly what you want to delete but i use this : IE Privacy Keeper
Its free, you can set it to delete files securly by doing 5, 10, 50 etc passes on the files and it cleans loads of files. Hope this helps you

Does this work for Vista version. I checked the link but it list all versions except for Vista and 7 RC 1.

IE8 has an "InPrivate" mode that results in nothing being left behind after the browser process terminates.

Yeah it works on vista. Im using it on Vista ultimate x64. You can also set it to do auto cleaning, which i do. When i close firefox it deletes all files and then when i shutdown or reboot it runs again. I like it because you set it up once and thats it :D
