IE8 problems

HELP

The other day I recieved a automatic update, so as normal I accepted it
since then IE8 does not even load ...

Things I've tried:
Tried to uninstall IE8, but can't find it in "Remove programs"
Tried to system restore, but won't allow past the download date
Tried Re-installing it, but keeps giving me a error message "you have a newer version already installed on system"
Tried so so so many things....

Can anyone please HELP

Re: IE8 problems

To Uninstall IE8
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
  3. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
  4. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.
  5. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes. Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  6. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

Re: IE8 problems

What was the automatic update?
Have you tried starting IE without add-ons (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Internet Explorer)?

Hi,
Go to Windows Update(Start->All Prog.-> Wind.Update), right at the bottom left you'll find "Installed Updates" and you can uninstall IE8 there.

Re: IE8 problems

When you say you tried to system restore - did you actually do a system restore ?

If so , sytem restore again to undo that one - after that, you may see IE8 in the installed updates list and can uninstall it from there.
