IE7 & FF 3.5.7 won't connect but have internet

My various protections (Trend Micro), Spybot search and destroy, and Malwarebytes'. All of these came up clean. One of my friends that it'd be fun to link me to a porn site without telling me. My computer was fine, but once I restarted I had intermitten access using my browsers. Half the time I'd get 'connection has been reset'. Now, I'm completely unable to use either FF or IE. The only way I can browse the internet is via the AOL browser. Any idea what I can do?

Regardless of what the a/v software says, it sounds like a virus or malware. You may want to repost in the security forum. They can tell you what you should do.

You may want to reset IE. Tools, internet options, advanced, reset. Maybe, only the setting were changed. Might give you internet access again.

If you are sure there is no virus, just do a system restore from 2 days ago. That should make things right.

Interesting. I followed your advice of resetting IE and it fixed both browsers. I'm tempted to post this in the security anyway just in case it's just a temporary fix.

Settings do not just change by themselves. I got you working, but there could be bigger problems. Post the facts in Security. If there are not virus or malware you are lucky. But be careful in the future. Use your A/v and stay away from the sites that are nothing but trouble.
