hyperlinks being corrupted in emails

I have Windows Mail, and Vista Home Premium.

I send out a regular newsletter, in which there are many items, each having a title that is a hyperlink, with a bit of text below - so anyone wanting to read more on a particular topic can click on the link to get the whole story.

I copy the whole email many times, to send out in batches of perhaps 15 addresses (as I have been told this is better than sending out to hundreds at a time, to avoid being spam).

In the first email, or even the first several, all the hyperlinks worked fine. I tested them using my own email, and another account I have on a different system.

then, on later emails, all the links are messed up and do not work. Each has this code at the front of the URL:
mhtml:{61FB8201-9863-42A3-B903-9CE0C3124D2E}mid://00000074/!x-usc

Is this a deficiency of the sytem, that it cannot cope with a hyperlink being copied?

Is that my problem?

any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Hallo Sarah Clayton, This is just a shot in the dark but i know that anti virus email scanners can corrupt email.

If you have an email scanner you could maybee disable scanning of outgoing email and see if this helps.

Hi
That's helpful. It could be that. I have Norton, and it was driving me nuts because Norton rejected about 10 or so of the emails, and I had to re-send them. They always sent the second time.

How do I disable Norton for emails ??? Maybe it is self apparent and I will find it.

I wondered if this link corruption thing is a Vista problem, or if Vista is entirely innocent on this one ?

Any clues ?

Many thanks.
Sarah

Welcome Sarah

My suggestion is the you uninstall Norton, and it may solve your problem. In the event that it does not the replacement will be better and free.

Go to the Microsoft site and download security essentials (anti virus)
Go to Malwarebytes and download their software (for Malware)

You will be better off all around.

Excellent advice not only for Sarah but for all. Those 2 programs keep my 3 computers in top shape and work better than any "paid" programs I ever had in the past.

Hallo Sarah, with this i would say pretty much for certain that your problem is the email scanner
If you open the Norton control panel, somewhere in the settings will be an option to disable the email scanner.
Email scanners are not necesssary as your resident protection scans them as they come in anyway
Any attachments you should save to a file and right click on the attachment, a scan option from your AV should appear in your context menu and scan the attachment before opening it (this is good practice to get into)
If you wish to change your AV post back and i would be only to happy to walk you through it as uninstalling Norton properly takes a bit more than just uninstalling it.
MSE is a very good option, i do not use it but i do recommend it to a lot of people including my daughters
If you want set & forget solid protection MSE is a good option :D
