Vista forgets login credentials

Every couple of days Vista 'forgets' the login credentials for secure websites and I have to reenter the username and password. Once entered I can revisit the website and autologin, but two days later I have to enter the credentials again.

Any thoughts are appreciated

Before the website login is forgotten, do you do any maintenance to your computer; a disc cleanup or delete temporary files etc.?

What software are you using for antivirus, malware and maintenance?

Are you using CCleaner software? If so you need to make some changes as I had the same problem.

Hello mikesells, welcome to Seven Forums!

As you mention "secure websites" could it be that the sites in question are automatically logging you out as part of their security regimen, maybe it's not Vista?

Rich,

I also run Windows XP and do not experience the same problem. The websites I am going to are CareerBuilder, Monster, Dice, Yahoo, and others. I could understand if it were one or two but it is all the websites.

Sounds like your cookies are being deleted. What browser are you using? Make sure it is not set to delete cookies after every session.

If you are using cleaning or maintenance programs like CCleaner, stop, and see what happens.

If Mike is using CCleaner he needs to go into Options then Cookies and he will see a list of websites on left panel. He then highlights the ones he want to keep and add them to the right panel. It will save login name and passwords so he won't have to keep doing this. Been there and done that.

I have a similar problem from time to time, but not always. I can go for quite a few days with no problems, and then suddenly, I have to re-log in to all of my websites, (and update all my "preferences" on Yahoo, Google, etc. as well). However, I do notice there's a connection to some (but not all) of the Windows Updates that are downloaded. Do you notice that any Updates cause you to have to reset all the log-ins?
