Mail stuck in Outbox

    Mail stuck in Outbox

    When I send mail the file initally is placed in the Local Folders "Outbox".

    After the mail is sent, the file is transferred to my IMAP "Sent Items" folder.

    Recently, where there is an attachment to the message this latter transfer process is not completing and, although I know the message has been sent, the message remains visible in the Local Folders "Outbox".

    Any ideas?

    You did not give the name of your email client, so not sure if this applies to you.

    Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer that is running Windows Vista

    Hi,

    I'm using Windows Mail on 32-bit Vista with my IMAP provider being AOL.

    I tried the suggested Vista update only to be told it was not required on my machine.

    As I mentioned initially, I have no problem with the mail actually being sent, it is the transfer to IMAP which has become a problem - but only for mails which have an attachement.

    Hi,

    I followed your advice and got as far as the Advanced pane. I then got nervous as the only resizing option was based on messages greater than 60kb (default) being broken apart. The option box is currently unticked and I was worried about how the breaking-up will affect the message at my addressees end.

    Since starting this thread, and although the mail sends OK, I am now getting failures to transfer to IMAP on any type of mail i.e. not just those with attachments.

    When a sent file fails to transfer I get a warning message saying that the IMAP server has a problem and do I want to wait or stop the process. Whichever option I select has no effect - the transfer is still attempted and the warning message reappears!

    If I close Mail and then reopen it quite often the transfer will then proceed without problem. So increasingly I wonder if the issue is with the AOL IMAP server?
