Try reviewing the following article:

Tips for solving problems with Internet Explorer
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer

If that doesn't resolve the problem, then try the following two procedures in the order presented:

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode [Applies to IE7 & IE8 in all OSS]
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

How to optimize Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/936213/?p=1

How to troubleshoot Internet Explorer issues in Windows Vista and in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936215

Hopefully, one of these procedures will resolve your problems with IE.

If the above doesn't work, try booting into Safe Mode with Networking and see if you have the same problems from there. Either way will help identify the cause.

Regardless of how safe mode turns out, if the problem still exists in normal mode try a clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit causing the problem. Follow the procedures in the article. Once found, delete, remove, deactivate, or uninstall it. Once done be sure to reset Vista back to normal status as explained in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal status and reboot - this solution is not going to work.

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, please post back with how the various tests and procedures went and if you learned anything helpful along the way. Does this happen on many pages or only on one specific web page (ONLY facebook and maybe only one specific page in Facebook?)

Good luck!

You're quite welcome - but keep in mind this is not a guarantee. Though long and with a few different articles and several procedures, if you follow the guidelines step-by-step you'll be fine - they may take a little while to read and do, but they are not very difficult. I'm hoping one of the earlier steps will do the trick, but you may need to go all the way to the last one and even then i can't guarantee it will be resolved. The problem may be with the web site itself and not with your browser or computer or connection - it's hard to tell (and I will not go to facebook to check myself as the risk of malware is much too high for me). Or there may be other issues - but we'll deal with that if necessary once you've tried the above if none of them work. One step at a time.

Oh, and you can tell the version by going to Help / About Internet Explorer and it will bring up a dialog box with the version (7 or 8 I imagine) and even the exact version number (a much longer number that we don't need). Let us know on your next post.

Good luck. If you find the problem early, post back with what you found so we can make sure we do what is needed to resolve the problem (assuming you actually have a problem which has not been proven if it occurs only on on page on one site).

If you tried all those procedures once and did them correctly and did them completely, then I don't think doing them again is going to help. You can if you want, but they would have worked the first time or they probably aren't going to work.

Is this happening anywhere but that one page on that one site? If not, it's probably an issue with the page on that site (or with the site if it's more than one page but only on that site) and not with you. The only thing to do in that case is try a different browser there (like Mozilla Firefox) and see if it has the same problems. If not, then use Firefox for that site until the site resolves the issue with IE and see if you can report the issue to the site's support people (pages work differently with different browsers and page coding has to be done to take into account as many browsers as possible to make sure they all work and show essentially the same things - and sometimes they miss some things with certain browsers and this may be one of them).

Assuming it isn't the site, let's see if resetting the TCP/IP stack helps. Here are the instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357/en-ushttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357/en-us.

If that doesn't work, if you are using IE7, then you can't uninstall it or re-install it but you could try upgrading to IE8 to see if that helps: Internet Explorer 8: Worldwide sites. If you are using IE8, then you can try to uninstall it, download a fresh copy from Microsoft, and re-install it to see if that resolves the problem. Post back if you need more detailed instructions on how to do this.

If the problem persists after that, post back and we'll see if we can find something else to try.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
