I tried to google for an answer. Getting tired looking. So, I am asking here.

Where is the search box in IE9 beta ? Any way to have it back ?
Please see my screenshot.

On a related subject :
why are there so many " duplicated " buttons ?
Tools buttons - 3
House buttons - 2
Favourites button - 2
And yet, they scraped the search box. Go figure.

Hello Djch129,

In IE9, you would type what you wanted to search for in the address bar now instead, then select one of the installed search providers to use to search with.

Hope this helps,

Yes. I did read about something 2-in-one deal. And I did press the pointer and saw the choice of search providers.
I just couldn't put the 2 toegther.

I would call this silly procedure user-UNfriendly. But what do " they " care.

Thank you.

P.S. Please close this thread.

Actually it was done to reduce redundancy and have a cleaner window. IE7 & IE8 could already search from the address bar, but just had the extra redundant search box that could be used for the same searching.

If you really prefer to have a extra search box, you could just make your home button be Google, Bing, or whatever. This way you could click on the Home (house) icon to do a search there instead.

I did not know that.

If MS did that to reduce redundancy, how would they expalin having ....
3 Tool buttons
2 Home buttons
2 Favourites buttons.

Anyway, thank you for the info.

Why are there so many "duplicated" buttons ?
Tools buttons - 3
House buttons - 2
Favourites button - 2

Seeing as the Tools, House (Home Page) and Favorites buttons are on the Menu Bar, you should be able to right-click on the Menu Bar to add/remove any of the links you wish to have on your IE9 screen. If IE9 is set up like IE8, you would select 'Customize' then 'Add or Remove Commands,' and then you should be able to remove the duplicated comman icons, and if you wish, add any others to your screen.

My " beef " is not about the Command Bar, I am used to see them there.
My " beef " is about those 3 buttons ( Home, Favourites and Tools ) that are positioned under the Minimize, Maximize and Exit buttons, where the search box used to be.
THOSE ARE redundant.
This matter is too trivial to continue.
Thank you for your input.

If you delete those three buttons from the Menu Bar then the only place they will appear is under the Minimize, Maximize + Exit buttons. That will, at least, solve your redundancy issues.

You don't read my post correctly ( second time )
And you do not pay attention to my screenshot.
And HOW do you propose to remove buttons from MENU Bar ? You can't.

Forget about it.
Let's terminate this.

djch, don't be so cranky when someone is just trying to help you. (Thanks Josh!) You obviously did not read my post either, because I told you how to remove buttons from the Menu Bar. You CAN remove them in IE8 and I believe IE9 is set up the same way!

Here again is how: In IE, right-click on the Menu Bar, go to the very bottom of the list to select 'Customize' and to the bottom of the next screen to select 'Add or Remove Commands.' Two drop down menus will appear and you can select the icons you wish to add or remove. So, you can remove the duplicated command icons.
