Solved Can't scroll to bottom of favorites

I am scratching my head as to what is happening with this laptop and hope someone has a suggestion. HP dv6-130us I started to notice that when I go to my favorite list and want to choose a site, I am unable to scroll to the bottom of the list or anywhere other than what is shown. The cursor will move to the bottom, but then it quickly pops back to the original position. As time went by, I noticed that if I want to go to a directory that contains pictures and has a lot of files in it, the same thing happens. I am able to work around this if I change the way I view the files, finally ending up to the medium or large viewing icons. I should also mentioin that the scrolling will not work with the arrow key or the touchpad.

Today I got the brainiac idea that it might be my mouse, so I opened control settings and mouse, changed the speed and pow, it goes to slow and won't let me change the speed back to fast. I have since found a work around for that, but I am sure once I shut down the computer, it will go back to the slow setting.

It seems like whenever I go to some feature to change, such as cookies, once I touch it I changes and I can't change it back to anything else I had cookies on Medium and once I moved it, it went to Low and wouldn't let me change it back.

I am hoping someone can decifer this post and maybe offer a hint. I am using a logitec optical mouse that I did drop twice on a ceramic floor, but it seems to work fine with the exception of scrolling and also the built in mouse acts the same.

Usually there's a little arrow on the bottom of the favorites list. Just hover your mouse over it and it will scroll down the list. Maybe I'm being too simplistic.

I have this exact same problem. I am unable to scroll down in any folders that I open if there are more items than will fit in the smaller window. The lower choices just flash quickly and then it returns to the top. Also if I try to change the view the bar to the side of the options slowly slides up all by itself regardless of what I do and I end up with the HUGE icons. When I close the window and open it again it is right back to medium icons and again won't scroll down. Can scroll down in start-up menu but cannot click on anything below what was in the window initially. In addition while online in IE or Firefox some drop-down menus only flash quickly and then disappear.
I've scanned for bugs and uninstalled any newer software and that little suggestion above does nothing.

venisonfurs,

Check your mouse. It turned out that my mouse WAS affected by me dropping it. While my mouse was plugged into the USB port, my mouse pad wouldn't work properly either, but as soon as I unplugged it, my mouse pad worked. A new mouse solved my problem. :p

I'm using a wireless mouse. It still does it when I use the touch pad. Also along with the bar that slides up by itself when I click on views- the volume control is doing the same thing. When I click on the volume icon the bar is already moving up and the only way to stop it is to click on the desktop and out of the volume control. Then the volume level stays wherever the bar was when you were able to click out of it.

I should have stated that I am using a wireless mouse also. Try unplugging the transmitter from the USB port and see if the touch pad works. Let me know, but other than that, I am out of suggestions.
