I can receive my emails, no problem, but every time I try to send one I get a "connection to the server has failed' message.

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'Fall 2012 Internship Program'
Server: 'smtp.cox.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10013

As you can see, I'm trying to send a rather important message, so any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

More times than none the problem is at the mail server.
Go to the Cox website and send from your email account that they have online. If they dont have one you may have to wait. This happens to everyone.

If its time senstive
Open an account with Gmail and send from there You will have to check if for responses however or you can tell them to answer to your Cox account.

Sounds like they up and changed the server. You wouldn't be the first I've seen that this has happened too.

Go to their wedsite, and look up their settings, and make sure the servers match.

You can go online to cox and try changing the mail settings. You need to match the server configurations for your account and somebody else's account whose working.
