Help Please;
This morning when attempting to open a hyper link in Outlook 2007 I received an error Message " The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on the computer. Please contact the System admin." I am the admin! This was the 1st time I saw the message. I closed OL and tried it again with the same results. No changes were made to the PC prior to the error.
I googled the error and found a fix??? on the site
»www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm I ran this fix
HTM/HTML Associations (Restore the default associations for htm/html files)
Now the links only open in word (clicking on the link opens a new session of word and the link content) Nothing I do can restore this back to the links opening in just firefox.
A system restore failed 2x at different restore points with a message of unknown error.
BTW hyper links work correctly with the browser alone.
I also tried removing MS word, hoping when the link was opened to get the "No program associated error" and I would be able to pick a browser (firefox). No such luck; the link opened note pad with gibberish. As of now word is back on the PC and still opening when a link is clicked in outlook.
