Windows Mail Signatures

I am using Windows Mail in Vista Home Premium SP2. I have three accounts set up: two business and one personal. The personal account is the default email and I have created a signature using just text. When I select Create New Mail the New Mail window opens in the default mail name and the default signature appears.
I have created two other signatures for the business accounts which are html files and, using the Advanced button in the Signature set-up, have ticked the appropriate accounts to use these signatures, and ticked the appropriate box to use html file as signature.
The only way I can create mail from either of the two business accounts is to choose Create New Mail and then, from the drop-down arrow in the From box, choose one of the business accounts.
However, the Signature isn't added.
If I make one of the business accounts the Default mail and choose Create New Mail, then the signature is included okay.
If I could choose which account to use before I clicked on Create New Mail, I think that would work, but can't see how to do that.
Any ideas please?

I am not sure exactly what you mean but this may help-

you can create new mail type your email and then at top of window, click insert/go down to sig/and follow the little right arrow where you will see a drop down of all your sigs. then click on the one you want.

You can also make your business ddress the default/create new mail/type and prss control\the key for caps\S all at once and default sig will go in

cannot recall term

Thanks Primal.

What I really wanted was for the signature to go in automatically. I had a bit of trouble describing what was happening so I can understand you saying you weren't quite sure what I meant.

I will just have another shot at explaining.

1. In Windows Mail I click on Create Mail. The Create Mail window opens with my default mail account name (personal) in the "From" box. The appropriate signature appears in the body of the mail.

2. But I want to send the email from my business account (business1). So I click the down arrow in the From box and from the drop-down list choose Business1. Unfortunately, the signature from Personal still remains, so I have to delete it and, using the method you describe, manually insert the Business1 signature, which is not really the idea.

3. I can go to my Mail accounts and make Business1 my default account, then when I click on Create Mail the Create Mail window opens with Business1 in the from box and with the appropriate signature in the body of the mail. Great, unless I want to send the email from Business2 account which has a different signature.

I don't really want to keep changing my default mail account to get the correct signature. Alternatively, I don't really want to have to keep deleting an incorrect signature and manually inserting the right one.

If I "Reply" to an email sent to a specific account, then the "Reply" window opens with the correct "from" address and the correct signature already inserted.

What I would like, is to be able to select the appropriate account to use before I hit the Create Mail button so the window opens with the correct "from" address and the correct signature inserted automatically.

I gather from other posts that Windows Live Mail does not suffer from this problem, but it has other disadvantages, so I'm not too keen to switch to that. Nevertheless, that seems to be my choice.

Thanks again for your help.

Ididn’t really find a solution. I don’t believe there is one while using WindowsMail, although other posts have suggested Windows Live Mail doesn’t have thesame problem.
Ifyou use IMAP for your mail account rather than POP3, everything works find inWindows Mail because IMAP accounts all have their own folder structure, so youjust click on the relevant inbox before selecting “Create Mail”. Then theCreate Mail window opens with the correct account name in the “from” box andthe correct signature in the message area.

However, changing an account from POP3 to IMAP might be a palaver too far. Similarlychanging to Windows Live Mail.

Ididn’t go down either of these routes.

WhatI have done as a work-around is create an email with no signature, no subjectand no message and then send it to each of my three accounts.

WhenI want to create a mail with a certain signature, I just select said email inmy inbox which is addressed to the relevant account – say Business1 for example– then choose “Reply”. The Reply window opens with the correct “From” detailsand correct signature.
(Justmake sure that in the Signature Setup there is no tick in the box “Don’t addsignatures to Replies and Forwards”)

Ithen just delete the “To” address and proceed as normal.

Ifthis proves too cumbersome as time goes by, I will just have to insert the signature manuallyas described by Primal, above.

Open window mail by clicking the start button, clicking all programs, and then clicking window mail. Click the tools menu, click options and then click the signatures tab.
