Does anyone know where to get IE 10?

Whenever, I try to find it, I'm redirected to IE 11 which isn't compatible with Vista. I can find IE 9 and IE 11 but not IE 10.

Hello wither 3, I'm afraid IE 10 isn't compatible with Vista either. Most of us are using Firefox etc. these days.

Thank you Vistaar. I didn't know that IE 10 isn't Vista compatible. The only reasons I wanted to install IE 10 is because several websites indicate that they're no longer supporting IE 9 and I'm frequently getting websites to freeze in IE 9. I didn't have the latter problem in IE 8.

Try using Pale Moon with the "FoxE9" plug in. Looks almost identical to IE9 when you set it up right.

I already have Firefox. Where would I get IE 10 if I wanted to use it in Win 7?

I don't have or want 11. What do those switches do?

Sorry, I don't have a Windows 7 PC and must have posted incorrect links. Various third-party sites claim to have IE 10. Be sure to scan the file at VirusTotal if you go that route.

I just wanted to know what they do. If they're for Vista, I might use them.

Hi Vistaar-

Thanks for the information. I downloaded IE 10 from the link you provided. I will probably try it in Win 7.

It's very strange that I can find IE 9 and IE 11 at Microsoft but not IE 10.

Thanks again for your efforts.

I've looked into this some more. According to Microsoft, "Beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates" (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/search?sort=PN&alpha=internet explorer). For Windows 7 and 8, that means only IE 11 will be supported, so you might want to think twice about installing IE 10. (Of course it also follows that support for IE 9 will end when support for Vista ends.)

Well, here's something interesting.

I decided to install IE 10 on my Win 7 system using the file from the link you provided. When I tried to install it, it said that I already had a newer version installed. I opened IE and went to About and it said I'm already using IE 10. Despite the fact that I had hidden any updates for IE 10, it shows that IE 10 was installed on August 22, 2015 in the Windows Update list of installed updates. Takes care of that.

I would wonder if it was actually possible to 'hack' IE10 into Vista seeing as it is Windows 7 compatible.
Probably not, and it would probably also damage your system, but it'd be nice to see if it was possible :)

I recommend you install Palemoon, but I don't know when they will end support for Vista (probably after end of support; the site says they don't care about systems which reach end of life)

I'm not really worried about using IE 10 in Vista. IE 9 works with the exception that a few weeks ago it started occasionally freezing when opening a website or when at a website. I see it also on my Win 7 system so I'm wondering if it has something to do with my cable. The other issue is that some websites claim they don't support it but it hasn't been a big issue. I thought I would go to IE 10 to avoid potential problems, not knowing that IE 10 isn't Vista compatible.

I also have Firefox installed and it works fine.

Some sites make out they're incompatible with certain browsers and then actually there's nothing wrong with them.
It's funny though how Flash will still work in IE6 on XP, too.

Easiest thing to do if they are lying about incompatibility is to use a proxy which allows you to change your user agent.

It's also funny how nearly all websites read one part of a string and not the other part, like in Pale Moon, it reads only 'Firefox/31.9' and not 'PaleMoon/25.7.3' meaning some pages disallow you, I think it has something to do with the garbage that is web standards.

I just use simple HTML for websites so I don't need to comply to them because they work. They were probably made so that IE wouldn't work properly without breaking sites viewable in IE5, which is why that browser wasn't much of an improvement: it needed to work with IE5.x websites while being more standards-compliant; rather than them bothering to use a proper system they barely updated anything.
