Crazy IE7 Crashes constantly

I swear for some reason On Vista x64 on my machine my internet explorer constantly freezes then crashes its quite annoying anyone else have that issue

Hi Zeromaster,

It probably is a add-on in IE that is causing it. Disable them one by one and test IE until you find the culprit, then uninstall it.

In IE7:
1. Click Tools.
2. Click Manage Add-ons.
3. Click Enable or Disable Add-ons.

I had the same problem and tried a zillion things to fix it. I had given up and the other day on a lark I reset my display to "performance" instead of let windows figure it out. I figured that since I had dual 64-bit processors and 4GB of ram, what the heck, there should be plenty of system resources to go around.

Viola... much to my amazement my IE crashes and lock ups stopped. Everything works great in both IE and Firefox (both are the 32-bit version so flash and shockwave work too).

where did you find the adjustment for " set to performance "

I'm going to try that! Everytime I open my Explorer 7 in Vista something goes wrong. I can never sign in to CNN although I've had an account forever. I have to allow cookies so often, even after I have allowed them so many times before; even though I 've been to the same site every day!! I am getting tired of things stopping and going wrong with my internet, that I will try most anything!

Thanks for the advice. I hope it works!:)

IE7 Stops Responding

I'm sort of having the same problem. I wouldn't say IE crashes, it just stops responding. I can surf the net for about 15 minutes then IE stops loading pages. It will appear that it's trying to but nothing will ever load. It's not my ISP or router because I can remote connect to another computer and surf the net without ever having a problem connecting to my XP Pro machine.

If I close out of IE, it will still usually show that the process is running in task manager, this only happens when it stops loading pages and not after closing out of IE when it was working fine. I try to kill the task and it will stay running no matter what I do. It's not a virus or anything because it is a new install of the OS. The only way to get back on the Internet is to reboot my computer. Then the computer usually hangs and takes like 10 minutes to actually shut down because of the IE process that is running, provided I don't just hit the reset button because of how long it takes.

Everything else works great. I don't have a problem running any other program and I never have a problem rebooting any other time. I am using Vista 64 bit Ultimate. It is just so annoying having to reboot the computer like every 15 minutes if I want to surf the net on this machine. I have also installed IE8 to see if that would solve the problem, same thing.

If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris

Hello~ ;)

First time here so be nice. : D

I'm running Vista HP 64 bit. with IE7 Browser, for a long time I had not issues

as of late, however IE7 has been crashing a lot, well maybe 2X a Day or something?

I am not removing ant RAM, so that's out.

I was hoping BRINK would have an Answer for me, I have read a lot @ this Site,

Brink is a very Intelligent individual, I can tell easily. But hay, if anyone has any

suggestions other than removing RAM or Switching to Firefox, I'm all EARS!!

Hello Blue, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It may be bad IE add-on causing this. You might see if resetting IE7 can help.

Hope this helps,

Shawn~

That's the first thing I did, to no avail. Probably Add-ON management you

think? Latest Versions thereof? I've been looking & reading your posts for a long

time Brink/Shawn your a good person, I can tell. I've gathered a plethora of info

from you and this this site. I ran XP forever, then Vista HP 32bit, next, Vista HP

64bit. I have my Vista machine running like a swiss watch, other than this annoying

IE7 Crash business.

Is there a way to re-install IE7 Vista?? Over write the files and what not? This

to me would be a logical fix. Or perhaps, IE7 Repair, though, I believe Reset is

the closest thing I'll find. In short there is no IE7 Repair, Button. Or insert Disk and

repair, hmmm, maybe that's an option?

Blue

Thank You. ;) Oh and Thanks for the Welcome aboard as well.

My first MS OS, Win 95. BTW. Way back in the day...when 4 out of 5 Doctors

smoked Camels, LOL!!

Hi Shawn~

I just replied or so I thought, perhaps, I hit the wrong button, for post? D'oh!! Or

it will show up later? Have not clue one.

Anyhow, I tried Resetting Vista, awhile back, didn't seem to help. I do use a bunch

of add-ons and some may be out of date too, this would cause issues, or no?

Can, or is there a way to repair IE7, via my Vista Disk, or from MS?

Is over writing IE7 an option? Is there a simple FIX tool that's safe?

MS must be aware of this issue. Shawn. We;; you'd think so anyhow?

I started building my own Machines and working with Win 95 way back in the day

I'm a heavy Gamer. Though I've always been a heavy Gamer, and only PC.

I highly doubt that has anything to do with my dilemma. However.

Well anywho, Thanks so much for the Welcome aboard!! I used Abit MoBo's mostly

but they went belly up, sad day for me, I have 3 Abit Mobo's as well. One of the

Best IMHO. Gigabyte is Solid and Very dependable, not bad an OC'er either, I'm

sure I could get my C2D 8400 up to 3.7GHz, if I really wanted too. I had a DFI

Land Party not long ago running an Opty 1.8 GHZ, clocked @ 2.7 GHz. Not bad.

My C2D is stock 3GHz, so I just have it at 3.5GHz. Getting side tracked here

sorrry. So if you have any other ideas, do tell.

Blue ;)

Opps I just saw my post show up, 2 minute delay, I see, ok...Got it now.

Sorry about that....

I Bookmarked it however and will post back with my results, hows that?

Thanks Again!!
