What is yours and how did you get it. Me 30 years ago when I started at Roadway as a mechanic, my first day a guy said YUCK when he first saw me and it stuck. Now people call my wife Mrs Yuck and she wants to kill me.

Re: nicknames

My first nickname was Sh00t3r, then I played UT2004 and I saw the Xan-like robot named Axon.

And there we go, Axon it has been from 2004-... .

Re: nicknames

When I started on forums a few years ago I was a locomotive engineer (the guy who drives the trains) and I shortened it up to locoeng. I just never changed it when signing up to new forums as that was what I'd become used to.

Re: nicknames

Mine is easy.

My RL nickname is simply a shortened form of my name (it seems that Americans are fond of shortening names to something they can pronounce instead of just pronouncing the name- and my name is only 5 letters long). But the nick I use in all forums is John L Galt, a bastardization of John Galt, the Hero from Ayn Rand's Objectivist novel Atlas Shrugged

Re: nicknames

Hello all!

I first got tagged as "The Bare Foot Kid" when I started driving trucks way back in
the day as a CB (Citizens Band) radio handle.
When I first started with the first company I drove for, another driver saw me get
out of my truck with no shoes on and said, hey barefoot and it stuck.
I've always thought it is one of the coolest 'handles' I've ever heard.

Re: nicknames

My user name for this forum (and others of which I am also a member) stems back to when I was at college in the early 1980s and we were playing 'Dungeons and Dragons'. We had to draw the name for our characters out of the proverbial hat. There were a number of names available, such as Fiend, Goblin, Dwarf, etc, and the one that I drew out was Dwarf and I have been using that ever since. I am just glad that I didn't draw one of the other names, 'Fairy', as I don't think that I would have been able to live it down if I had!

Re: nicknames

Joined an online gaming clan back in 1998, chose the name Fumigator. Been with the same clan and had the same name ever since. Over time they've shortened it to either Fumi, Fumz... or when the battle is real intense and time can't be sparred, Fum.

Pronouced Fumee, fumes or fume.

Re: nicknames

hm... my handle is xguntherc. Back in high school I had a Computer and Internet class and the teacher had us all make email addresses to use to send stuff back and forth. Everyone had to set it up as followed:

x(your nast name, then first initial) so thats mine xguntherc@blablabla.

My nickname is actually Gunther, it's my last name. (Yes I'm German) and all my friends call my by that. people at work, even my managers do.

Talking Re: nicknames

Nez comes from my niece and nephew being sarcastic....Neil's extra zest. That was when I played a game called Chookie Egg,on my Spectrum ZX Plus,in the 80's,and after I had reached a certain game-level,they used to say "Nez..way to go" etc.So the name just stuck for each forum I go on.Sad,but true.
