Hi.. does anyone know how to convert the video from the camcorder into dvd?

What is the make and model of the camcorder?

Does your camcorder need any drivers or switching into PC playback mode?

I have just read the manual and I cant see any mention of a driver.

Is your firewire 1394 port showing in device manager?

You should be able to capture using Window Movie Maker...

In your title you mention VHS but in the body you mention camcorder...is it an analogue camcorder?

In which case you may need to an analogue converter...but I need to know what it is you are actually converting from

Edit: sorry just read the rest of the thread....

Your camcorder is not the VHS kind but uses the Hi8 tapes. I'm new in the camcorder scene so ahve never used Hi8 tapes.

Yes, you will need an analog converter. I use Pinnacle studio plus with the converter. Any camcorders or VHS recorders of the era (analog) do not have software for converting to digital to burn on DVD. So you must use a analog converter of some sort. I paid $149.00 for mine at best buy. If I was using my brain I should have added another $100.00 and just bought a digital compact VHS camcorder that has software and drivers to burn to DVD. Then all I would have to do is switch out my old home movies and put it in new camera and burn.
