Final Fantasy 11

hey, i dont know if this belongs in the gaming topic or not, since its not a technical question, but does any1 know a good site that runs a final fantasy 11 online server? i know world of warcraft has a lot of private servers. the reason i ask is because, i always want to try a game out before i buy it. and world of warcraft, was actually a game i didnt like at all. so now im making sure to try out games before i buy them

re: Final Fantasy 11

If you go into almost any game store, they should have a FFXI start DVD that has 30 days of free access - I just picked up Mass Effect and GTR Evolution at a local GameStop, after looking at a local Play N Trade *and* another local shop (cannot remember the name, sorry) and all three had those starter packs for like $1 or $2....

But, AFAIK, having not actually played FFXI yet I am not sure on any servers out there that you can access *without* paying....

Re: Final Fantasy 11

You can always see if you can find an online video of the game, this may give you some idea of what it is like.

Re: Final Fantasy 11

yea i searched, checked it all out, downloaded the trial....one of the worst games i played, the controls where confusing and i just plain didnt like the crappy graphics, a horrible let down for final fantasy. i still like the final fantasy series, but this game is just horrible. not worth $13 a month. but whatever, if you like it, you like it

Re: Final Fantasy 11

I've been playing FFXI for five years now. My gaming PC is pretty much a FFXI terminal. It's not a bad looking game for it's age, not sure what you were looking for graphically. There are some inherent limitations due to the cross-platform nature of the game (it's believed the PS2 version drags the other versions down) but they do update it constantly with new free stuff as well as expansions. They recently made it much easier for new players to level, and made it so veterans can play with lower level groups.

The controls are confusing to PC gamers. This is because it's a console-minded game. A good gamepad is all that is needed to make the game VERY easy. I use a Logitech Dual Action.
