While living in a wild, windy and weather-blown area near Wellington, New Zealand many moons ago, I discovered a new species of NZ Funnel-web spider

, closely related to the Sydney species, slightly smaller and without the deadly toxic venom. It's habitat covered a section of steep coastal hillside, and its range was limited to an area of less than 20 acres. It has never been found outside that domain, which is now an environmental reserve.
These two be a couple of my best friends who share the home and environs, here with me....the Sepoys are fearful of them.
