Vista - How Many With Military Service?

Just curious just how many people nowadays has served in the military. It used to be only a small minority had not. Wondering about what percentage have now?

united states air force 1985 to 1997

lackland air force base, san anotonio, texas (basic training): 12/26/85 to 3/86
chanute air force base, rantoul, illinois (tech school): mar to july 1986
elmendorf air force base, anchorage, alaska: 1986 - 1989
charleston air force base, south carolina: 1989 - 1997
temporary duty to incirlik air base, turkey, operation provide comfort: 1993

I had 5 years in the U.S.A.F. myself. 1958-1963, over the Cuban Missile Crisis, Tac Missiles, TM-61C Martin Matador.

Want to join the USMC, but need to wait another year to finish High School (and turn 18)

you were in and out before i was even born!

was stationed at charleston, south carolina when we went to panama to get noriega. the following year, desert storm kicked off, though i did not go to saudi.

18 Years so far, 4 more to go and I retire from the British armed forces, the best in the world.

6 years in the US Navy. Electronics Tech, got the 8 weeks of basic electricity and the 48 weeks of schooling on radar and radio, and radar systems. Mediterranean Sea 3 times, North Atlantic once (up by Icleland), 2 other Atlantic transits were further down, Carribean Sea once. Navy destroyer I was stationed on for 4 years got side swiped by a hurricane out in the Altantic. Been to Naples and Athens several times each trip. Never been in combat.

A job that had/has to be done, even though it is distasteful to many who do not understand those folks were/are the reason they still have their freedom of choice. God bless
