As the European elections are almost upon us  I thought I would just test public opinion on the EU - Are you for or against it?

Please only vote if you are in an EU member state.

The bit that really concerns me is that as soon as Gordon "Jonah" Brown gives his final two fingers to the British public and agrees to the EU constitution that we will then be effectively ruled by unelected Euro bureaucrats

The politicians keep telling us that we are better off in the EU, well I'd rather be poorer and have the government that we elected make the decisions for our country.

we will loose everything ''English'' when we fully join the EU, most of our law & legislation already steams from across the water , its gonna happen im afraid, there is nothing that can stop the ''NWO'', not even an all out riot on the steps of parliament will change their agenda....

''jonah'' Brown.....LMAO!! :D, Cameron is on his way in to further push the ''big brother state'', they're now weighing your bins & limiting the amount of rubbish you can discard..... WTF is going on :sarc:

gone will be the days of ''the stiff upper lip'', very soon you wont even need a passport to travel around Europe, b/c they'll class it as one country...:(

Im all for an EU goverment as long as its set up with one set of laws for the entire EU. Each member state has the minimum representitives needed to occupy such a parliment and we are all treated as equal citizens within the EU.

The country would then be recognized as Europe with REGIONS including England, France, Norway etc.

I definettly would not like to see the American system put in place where each state has different laws etc

"Very soon you wont even need a passport to travel around Europe" = Great lol

I understan pride in your country etc but not at the expense of standard of living. Anyone living in Britain take a quick holiday to Norway and you'll soon realise we live in a dump by comparisson.

This is because they dont spend money on weighing bins etc lol. There army budget is smaller etc. With one country we would need just one army, a united European army which would cut expenses and be put to better use.

Definitely against and John I agree with you and your views with regards it but please give us a Prime Minister that we actually elected not someone who just took over.

Not saying anymore as I might get carried away and say things I shouldn't :zip:

No, actually it is because they are one of the richest countries in the world. They have OIL and OIL and OIL and some more OIL and gas. They have sufficient money in funds to acquire my whole country if they wanted to, but I doubt they are interested. Main problem is to keep inflation under control. This is also the reason they have been able to stay out of the EU.

I am against.

Yeah i come from Shetland where theres Oil, Oil etc lol. I was quite appalled when i moved further south and seen some of the housing estates etc. ( i lived a sheltered life lol)

When you switch on the news we can afford as a nation to go to war in iraq etc build millenium domes, spend £140m on a system to streamline payment benefits which was then shelved, the Scottish parliament at over £400m, Wembley Stadium etc the list is endless but then we dont have money for Hospitals, Schools and the roads down here are a shambells as well etc.

Not only are we the most spyed upon nation in the world by our own goverment but the parliament we have just now is in the news for abusing taxpayers money, would we really be worse of if we were a part of Europe?

My Computer

I'm not from Europe, but I support the EU. In fact, I'd like to see the EU coalesce into a United States of Europe. It would be nice another cop picking up some of the slack on the world beat.

However, I don't see how England would fit into that. The English, from the outside looking in, seem to have always been closer to her former colonies than to continental Europe (I'm not really talking about America so much as those commonwealth countries. That lot is thick as thieves.)

Why have we got to abide by another countrys law?
We fought the Wars to be free of other countrys governing what we do, now we have to abide by thier laws:sarc:.
To the OP that said one army, we have the best in the world, why make it worst.
There is one law I do like, in France you have to learn thier language to live there and they choose who can live there. We have to take so many imergrants by the EU law, why dont they.

England is already governed by other countries as it has a scottish prime minister and a parliament made up of Irish, Welsh, Scottish and English representitives.

Where was the best army in the world when china invaded tibet? Our army is simply to small to engage in any conflict alone. As it stands we need the backing of America etc but with an army of Europe that would no longer be the case and it could be trained using UK methods but equiped with the best of what Europe has.

With one country comes one national minimium wage, one law on immegration, one set of policies and the ability to be a real power on the global stage. I know i wont convince anyone so il make this my last comment as i could talk about this for ages lol. All i say is look at your country just now and ask, is it the best it can be?

No country is and for the foreseeable future, won't ever be.

Things are going to get worse everywhere before they get better.

Yet again the Englishman being shafted my the politicians.

Where was the best army in the world when china invaded Tibet?

No oil in Tibet so that would be pointless

Our army is simply to small to engage in any conflict alone.

I do seem to remember we kicked the Argentinians arses despite our EU friends giving them weapons to shoot at us, if we had an EU army we would never of liberated the people of the Falklands.

As it stands we need the backing of America etc but with an army of Europe that would no longer be the case and it could be trained using UK methods but equipped with the best of what Europe has.

History and current events show us that most euro army's are useless, most wont leave base in Afghanistan as its too dangerous, not to mention how quick most surrendered or collaborated in the world wars.

With one country comes one national minimum wage

Stuff the minimum wage, if somebody wants to earn more money they should work harder.

one law on immigration

Sorry but we're full

one set of policies and the ability to be a real power on the global stage.

Power to do just what?

All i say is look at your country just now and ask, is it the best it can be?

Nope as its been ruined by the EU and our last two Scottish PM's Blair and Brown.

Have I missed offending anybody?

No i think you got everyone lol

Just a few points:

  1. No oil in tibet and they would kick our ass
  2. The Argentine goverment was under military rule and in the midst of a devestating economic crysis and large scale civil unrest and the war was seen as a way of diverting the Argentine peoples attention from this even though they neither had the military or financial muscle to win.
  3. The EU would put an end to any war within europe so you wouldnt have to worry about those useless army's (which would be nice :D)
  4. The minimum wage is a great idea unless you like people being exploited?
  5. And the UK was just peachy before the EU with Thatcher selling everything she could get her hands on lol
But anyway im stopping now so stop quoting me ha ha
