Re: Happy Independence Day

History is usually always mandatory in school. Sometimes its the Real Deal, sometimes not. US High School History is typically a series of facts, interpsersed with fables and myths about our history and all are taught as facts.

The number of complaints I heard in University history classes were many.

Astounding that people still believe George Washington had wooden teeth. Or that he chopped down a cherry tree.

Re: Happy Independence Day

At my school we don't learn history until 5th form or year 11 i'm 3rd form year 9. Until now I had never heard of independence day. I guess in New Zealand we learn all about our country first and then we learn about other ones later on in school.

We celebrate things like the Treaty of Waitangi (The day the British signed a treaty with the maori's).

We're a very small country. ( Only about 4 million people.)

Happy independance day anyway guys.
