Vista - windows 7 themes for vista?

hi everyone! i have been looking at various websites showing windows 7 themes for vista and was wondering how to actually install them, i have done as the websites say, installed "vista glazz" and patched the files, downloaded the themes and moved them to C:\windows\resources\themes and they still refuse to work/apply!! lol
how do i make these things work?!

Did you copy the .theme/.mssyles to the themes folder too? I think that file has to be in both "C:\windows\resources\themes" and in "C:\windows\resources\themes\*whatever the name of theme is*" Then you can select it from "color and appearance > open properties to see more options" or something like that....sorry i cant be more specific but my OS is in another language.

yes, id dall that, did i have to take the files out of the folders, and put then where the "aero, aero folder and classic" ones are?? sorry i havent replied in a while, my video card overheated and died on me, lol =]

Vista Glazz didn't work for me, I used Universal Theme Patcher from here:
Download Universal UXTheme Patcher 2.1 - Universal UXTheme Patcher patches uxtheme.dll allowing you to use 3rd party visual styles in Windows XP+ - Softpedia
After extracting the folder I put the folder in windows/resources/themes.
This is how I installed "Ultimate clear theme". HTH.

here are the instructions i got for one of the themes i downloaded that helped me install a theme successfully.

Firstly if you do not already have vista glazz installed on your
PC install it using teh set up file included in the pack.

Once it is installed, open it up and there is an icon with a PC
with a sheild over it, double click this and it should say something
about patching your system files, click the patch button, it will ask
you to reboot your PC, it is important you do this.

After you have rebooted, copy the folder Product(RED) from the pack,
the folder you need to copy is in the pack in teh visual style folder
and then copy this to the directory C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.

When you have done this, make sure that when you open up the folder after
you have copied it that the only contents of the folder is a file called
Product(RED).msstyle and two folders, one called en-US and the other called
Shell.

Once all this is done, right click your desktop and select personalise,
then go into colour and appearance, and then at the bottom of teh window
click on open up classic appearance for more colours.

There should be two visual styles in the window that comes up, both called
Windows Aero, one of them will be the Product(RED) theme, if you select one
and nothing changes to red just select teh other one and everything should change.

so after this tutorial i can download more windows 7themes which is compatible for my vista?

Yes. But make sure you create a system restore point or a backup before attempting these changes.

All it takes is one is one incompatible file in a theme and BANG! Busted installation.

one more question,does changing of windows theme to windows 7 affec the performance of my pc?bro do u have windows 7 theme compatible with vista...pls share thanks.
