Vista Forums / Techie IRC Channel?

I'm relatively new to IRC. I'm looking for chat rooms, but the online ones suck, and finding what you're looking for in IRC server lists just doesn't work.

How does one find an IRC channel that interests him? I'm looking for a channel for computer techies... Something like this forum, only in IRC.

word of mouth. IRC isnt as popular as it really should/could be because its a little more difficult than say an IM client. more old timers like myself who lived thru the dos years frequent irc cause the gui isnt very friendly.

We have gotten a few ppl together in the win 7 forum to chat and help solve problems. PM me for details if y ou are interested

It's quite a shame. I see a lot of potential in IRC, as opposed to your more "typical" IMs. I'm having trouble finding any active channels. For some reason, there are loads of people there, but there's no activity...

I'm simply finding it hard to find people to chat with about computers and technology. It's sooooo weird to me that I've been looking for a while now over the internet, and I can't find people that like to talk about computers and technology?
