CRT were a real pain on the desk. An LCD looks way better.

The thing its wrapped in looks better, i mean, why would you whant a monster like that stting on your desk, but i still think you get a better picture from a CRT. (IMO)

Re: Why No More CRT Monitors?

Sorry for not noticing they weren't used. The thing is with the Viewsonic one, it was photographed clearly when it is out of the box so I don't see how this qualifies it as being new. I don't consider "never used" as new. I consider something within its original sealing as new.

The Panasonic one, like even the first one has a design I don't like. I'm looking for the kind that is similar to Prolink one, or a copy of a Sony multiscan trinitron 200ES, which is what I have now. Unfortunately I can't find any new version of this, anywhere. All are used. Sony also doesn't make them anymore...sucks.

Which is why I really want that prolink one now. Yeah I'm picky. Got an email from prolink but like I said was stupid.

I would say CRTs actually have better picture in the sense that you have a variety more options to choose from about the picture, it's geomtery, centering, the dimension sizes and so on. If I could do that with an LCD than I wouldn't mind. Also for the record, I know having a bulky monitor is undesirable, but to me it is somewhat desirable. I don't know why but I see a .5 inch thick screen as something almost fragile and worthless. I want it to take up some space, at least as much as the prolink one, which is in fact my dream CRT monitor at the moment, of course assuming the picture is as good or better than my sony multiscan trinitron 200es.

Re: Why No More CRT Monitors?

Depends on the CRT.

Also for some reason laptop lcds >>>>> external monitor lcds. the laptop ones are just so much clearer and brighter, well not by much but still, definitely notice it.

Re: Why No More CRT Monitors?

I had a Samsung CRT for years which was still as new when I sold it. They are workhorses. But the bulk....was I glad to get rid of that!
