I think it's mandatory for it to be running non-stop in several countries at any given time.

loved that show. might i add, that the show pushed the envelope at a time when it could be pushed. i don't think a show like that could be put on television today.

These were all previously boldly aired and covered by the TV show that it was loosely based on, the very successful "Till Death us do Part" [UK] which was on our screens from 1965 to 1975. Additionally, this show also tackled the subjects of Royalty, the British 'Establishment' [Society & Class] and British Politics. Both shows were extremely well written and relied on clever and educated use of the language for the laughs.

I'm am surprised that nobody has mentioned what I consider is by far the very best ever US Comedy ever produced......"M*A*S*H", a US show that ran from Sep 1972 to Feb 1983. This brilliant show is famous for having the final episode become the most watched TV episode in US TV history. If I recall correctly, the final episode went for more than an hour.

The show had everything, great characters, believable situations and wonderful interplay between the characters. There was always an underlying moral or subliminal message, and although largely viewed as a comedy, there was also much pathos and a touch of 'Greek Tragedy' in many episodes. In all, my most favourite, again principally because of the use of the English language and great acting. The US has a lot to thank Alan Alda for.

For anybody who served for any period of time in any of the Armed Forces, this show had a real 'edge' to it, and perhaps more meaning.......It made viewers think!
You must be old Father Time.
TV [here in Australia] must have been fairly new way back then.
